Research Consultant - AI, Innovation & Social Impact

Job description

This is a rare and unique opportunity for a talented market or social researcher to combine their demonstrated interest in AI and emerging technologies with social and for-purpose research.

I’m working with a team that sits at the intersection of social impact and research innovation. Their work spans the issues that shape everyday life in Australia: health, housing, education, transport, disability, domestic violence, public services, media consumption, online safety, and more.

Now, they’re looking for a Research Consultant who can bring strong commercial consulting skills and a passion for using AI responsibly in research. Someone who thrives on variety, is equally comfortable with quant and qual, and who can influence stakeholders, spark new ways of thinking, and help teams embed AI into the way they work.

This isn’t a role for rule-followers. This is for the curious thinkers, the boundary-pushers, the problem-solvers who get energy from showing colleagues and clients what’s possible when you combine research rigour with emerging tech.

What you’ll do
  • Design and deliver research that matters – across health, housing, disability, education, and more
  • Lead and collaborate on both quant and qual projects, from design to delivery.
  • Use AI tools to streamline workflows, deepen insights, and push innovation (always responsibly)
  • Influence and inspire – helping colleagues and clients embrace new approaches
  • Bring commercial consulting skills into a social research setting.
What you’ll bring
  • 4–6 years’ experience in a research consultancy (social or commercial)
  • A mix of quant and qual research experience (from surveys to focus groups, analysis to reporting)
  • Sharp commercial consulting skills - client-facing, influencing, presenting
  • Curiosity about AI and how it can be applied meaningfully to social research
  • Strong rigour in methods, detail, and delivery
  • A collaborative mindset.
This role offers flexibility, hybrid working, and the chance to work alongside industry experts on projects that genuinely shape policy, services, and society.

If you’re ready to put your research skills to work in a role that blends innovation, social impact, and AI-enabled insight, let’s chat. Send your CV to Rowan Haylett at rhaylett@resourcesgroup.com or call Rowan to learn more.
