Dualist Research Consultant - AI & Social Impact

Job description

Are you a researcher who’s equally comfortable across quant and qual and excited by the possibilities of AI in social research? This is a rare opportunity to combine hands-on consulting with championing the use of cutting-edge tools to shape research that matters.

The Role
This is a dual role: part Research Consultant, part AI Innovator. You’ll be designing and delivering projects on some of the most pressing issues facing Australian society, while also helping teams embed new approaches and AI-enabled tools to strengthen impact.
The research spans a wide variety of topical and high-profile project. Everything from online safety, digital inclusion, and media consumption, to domestic violence prevention, gaming regulations, and misinformation. You’ll work across quantitative and qualitative studies, supporting end-to-end delivery while also exploring new ways to integrate AI responsibly into workflows.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage and deliver ad hoc and tracking projects across diverse social issues.
  • Apply both qualitative and quantitative methods to generate insights that influence policy and practice.
  • Champion the use of AI tools to streamline analysis, reporting, and innovation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test and embed AI-driven approaches with the right guardrails in place.
  • Partner with clients to understand needs, communicate findings, and influence decision-making.
About You
  • 4-6 years’ experience in research (social or commercial), with strong skills across both quant and qual.
  • A confident communicator, able to engage stakeholders and present insights clearly.
  • Energised by innovation, with a curiosity for AI and new technologies.
  • Skilled in tools like Q, SPSS, or similar; experience with AI-enabled research platforms a plus.
  • Naturally collaborative, organised, and detail-oriented.
What’s on Offer
  • Work that directly impacts Australian society and policy.
  • Tailored training, “Lunchtime Learning,” and study allowance programmes.
  • Hybrid working (flexibility around hours + WFH).
  • A collaborative, connected team culture with regular social activities.
  • Opportunities to shape the future of how AI and research intersect.
If you’re passionate about research, driven by social impact, and keen to explore the future of AI in insights, this role will give you the platform to do both.
