Research Director - Entrepreneurial Insights Consultancy

Job description

Despite their year-on-year growth and exceptional success, this independently owned research and insights consultancy has remained true to its trailblazing, entrepreneurial start-up roots.

Authentic to their core, they are ambitious, genuine, and playful experts at translating complexity into simplicity.

Multidisciplinary in their thinking, they combine advanced quantitative analytics and strategic qualitative methodologies with behavioural economics, big data, and cultural insights to uncover the intricacies of human behaviour. Their evidence-based insights inform policies, programmes, new product development, customer experience, innovation, and service design for a varied portfolio of commercial, social and government clients Australia-wide.

Bringing together the best of both worlds, they offer the excitement of a fast-growing start-up shaking up the Melbourne market while being supported by Australia’s largest independently owned social and commercial research agency.

The role: Research Director

As a director, you’ll have a seat at the leadership table and influence from day one; you’ll be integral in shaping the culture, future, and overarching success of the growing Melbourne division. There is ample opportunity for progression, lucrative bonuses, and financial incentives to match.

This is a highly influential role within the business; fully immersed in every aspect of the research and insights process from pitch to presentation, you’ll have an overarching responsibility for:

  • Building meaningful, trusted, and rewarding client partnerships.
  • Leading multidisciplinary briefs from pitch to presentation (ad-hoc and tracking)
  • Interpreting qual and quant data into insights that drive tangible impact.
  • Storytelling, presenting and inspiring clients into action.
  • Networking, pitching, and driving new business.
  • Adding a strategic lens, elevating the team’s thinking, and consulting capabilities
  • Leading by example, jumping on the tools when needed
  • Contributing to a culture of growth -mentoring, coaching, and managing juniors
  • Overseeing a P&L, shaping the future direction of the team

Directors within the agency are very hands-on, so whilst you’ll manage projects and lead a team, you’ll keep your foot in the craft, equally at home on the tools and getting dirty in data as you are with presenting to C-suite executives. Sitting within the senior leadership team and reporting directly to the founders, you’ll stretch your craft and client and commercial skills.

We’re looking for an up-and-coming leader who is goal-orientated and hungry to join a team with big ambitions, is growing quickly and wants to be part of something from the grassroots up.

It’s essential to have proven commercial agency experience within market research, insights, strategy and analytics, source agnostic with qualitative and quantitative skills and be confident with leading ad-hoc and tracking projects from inception to final delivery.

This a rare opportunity, and I’d love to chat if you are ready to take a forward career leap.
