Qualitative Research Strategist - Brand Insights

Job description

A leading boutique yet globally minded insights consultancy is looking for a curious and strategic Qualitative Researcher to join their growing Melbourne-based team.

They help some of the world’s most loved brands understand people — and, in doing so, build stronger, more meaningful connections that fuel growth.

With a local HQ in Melbourne and a footprint that extends to the US, they work across an exciting spectrum of FMCG and retail clients – from supermarkets and skincare to snacks and sparkling drinks. Their work cuts across categories and continents, bringing rich consumer insight to the heart of strategic brand decisions.

As a Qualitative Research Strategist, you’ll join a growing and close-knit qualitative team, working directly with a dynamic Head of Qual and a supportive senior consultant. Together, you’ll shape the kind of brand thinking that drives innovation, sparks product development, reimagines packaging, and elevates design.

It's an awesome opportunity to fast-track your qualitative skills, with heaps of room to learn, grow and try new ideas.
No two projects are the same. Each brief is custom-built and often multi-method, giving you room to stretch and strengthen your qualitative muscles — from focus groups and empathy interviews to shop-along, in-home observations, co-creation workshops and cultural immersions. They even have their focus group rooms on-site in their light, open-plan offices.

You’ll be hands-on throughout – from designing discussion guides and moderating fieldwork to crafting compelling insights and delivering them in story-rich, strategic presentations – with tailored L&D from day one.

The ideal candidate is someone with a flair for storytelling, a natural ability to build rapport with people, and the curiosity to get under the skin of consumer behaviour – all the ingredients of a natural quallie.
  • 1+ years’ experience in qualitative research, insights, or brand strategy
  • Practical experience conducting in-depth interviews, groups, or workshops
  • An intuitive understanding of people and behaviour — both what and why
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills; confident presentation abilities a plus
This agency offers a progressive, people-first culture with industry-leading perks such as:
  • Full pay for 4-day working weeks – amazing!
  • 5+ weeks’ leave
  • Hybrid working model – flexible, balanced, and burnout-free
  • Clear progression pathways and merit-based promotions
  • Modern office, creative culture, and regular social events
  • Tailored learning & development plans and 1:1 mentoring
  • Genuinely supportive and empathetic leadership
