Qualitative Research Executive / Senior Research Executive

Job description

Are you passionate about understanding the "why" behind consumer behaviour? This leading independent consultancy is on the lookout for a Qualitative Researcher to join its dynamic Auckland team.

Specialising in delivering strategic research-led insights across retail, tourism, and healthcare sectors, this agency is renowned for its commitment to career development for its people. From flexible work options and additional leave to personalised learning paths and exceptional mentorship, your growth is genuinely supported here.

They’re an agency that values creativity, individualism and inspiring minds, where you’ll be exposed to working with local and global clients, given the freedom and support to shape your own career journey.

About the Role

As a Qualitative Researcher, you’ll work on a wide variety of projects—brand strategy, innovation, customer experience, and U&A studies—each offering the chance to flex your thinking and storytelling skills.

You’ll lead qualitative fieldwork, expanding your skills in in-depth interviews, focus groups, online communities, and ethnographic research.

You’ll then transform rich conversations and cultural observations into strategic recommendations and compelling narratives that guide clients’ business decisions.

You’ll thrive in this team if you:
  • 2+ years commercial agency experience – qualitative research
  • Confidence running qualitative fieldwork – in-depths, groups, workshops
  • Are confident managing projects end-to-end, from brief to debrief
  • Are naturally curious, culturally attuned, and love uncovering human truths
  • Have the desire to broaden your methodological toolkit and stretch your thinking
This is more than a job—it’s a career-defining opportunity offering:
  • Immediate client exposure from day one
  • Varied local and international clients – working across NZ, Australia and the UK
  • A growth culture – you’ll be surrounded by people who will stretch your thinking
  • Flexibility – hybrid working, sabbaticals and the opportunity to work from the UK office
  • Exposure to mixed-methods thinking – qual, quant, analytics, strategy and branding
  • Growth beyond research – new tools to help you connect insights, become an even sharper commercial thinker and tell engaging stories
