Dualist Research Manager - Human Insight Delivered

Job description

If you’re a senior researcher who thrives on variety, strategic thinking, and meaningful work across both social and commercial sectors, this is a rare opportunity to step into a genuinely dualist role inside one of Australia’s most respected insights consultancies.
They are smart, nurturing, and deeply invested in both their people and their clients. Led by an exceptional senior team, they’ve built a culture where curiosity is encouraged, ideas are debated, and growth is intentional.

Why this role stands out
  • You’ll work across a rare blend of qualitative and quantitative projects, spanning social impact and big-thinking commercial strategy. No pigeon-holing. Think customised, ad hoc, intellectually stretching work.
  • The work is diverse, fascinating and genuinely impactful. One day, you might be exploring behaviour change for a Federal Department. The next, leading brand equity or choice modelling for a major bank, retailer, insurer or energy provider.
Projects span:
  • Behaviour change & communications strategy
  • Brand equity & brand strategy
  • Choice modelling & pricing
  • Segmentation & customer experience
  • Service innovation & evaluation
  • Cultural trends & thought leadership
This is not a “report the data” role. It’s about sharp interpretation, punchy storytelling, and confident strategic perspective. Clients expect thinking and you’ll be empowered to deliver it.

The Role
This is a growth hire, a critical mid-senior addition to free up senior leadership for high-level strategic direction, while strengthening capability across Consultants and Senior Consultants.
You’ll:
  • Lead end-to-end customised research programs (with a quant lean, but qual too)
  • Own client relationships - asking smart questions, building rapport, challenging thinking
  • Translate complex data into clear, commercial narratives
  • Deliver high-impact reports and presentations
  • Contribute to proposals and help grow accounts
  • Mentor juniors and elevate thinking across the team
  • Take commercial responsibility for projects and profitability
It’s full-service. It’s client-facing. It’s strategic.

What they’re looking for:
  • Strong full-service research agency background
  • Depth and breadth across methodologies (quant essential; qual capability valued)
  • Experience across social and commercial work (or genuine enthusiasm for both)
  • Confidence leading client conversations and building trusted partnerships
  • Ability to move beyond reporting into strategic advisory
  • Commercial awareness and desire to grow in this space
  • Energy, curiosity, and a genuine passion for understanding people, behaviour and society
Most importantly?
A curious, ownership-driven mindset. Someone who leans in. Someone who cares.

If you’re excited by the idea of blending meaningful social impact with sharp commercial strategy and doing it in a team that is genuinely smart, kind and ambitious, this is one to explore.
