Category Insights Manager - FMCG / Category / Shopper (Data Consultancy)

Our client offers Australia’s only proprietary benchmarking system that delivers a deep, systematic understanding of shopper behaviour across categories, segments, and brands.
  
This powerful platform informs category vision, strategy, and tactical decision-making for more than 50 leading manufacturers and retailers across grocery, pharma, and liquor - many with billion-dollar turnovers.
  
We’re seeking a Category Insights Manager who thrives on turning complex data into clear, commercially impactful stories - someone who enjoys working closely with senior FMCG and retail stakeholders and pushing insights into action.
  
The Role
  
You’ll manage a portfolio of major FMCG clients, partnering with them to unlock shopper-led growth opportunities. This is a hands-on insights role combining data analysis, storytelling, and client leadership.
  
Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing and growing relationships with major FMCG clients
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships across buying, sales, marketing, and category teams
  • Interrogating shopper survey data across syndicated and bespoke projects
  • Identifying critical insights to inform category strategy and planning
  • Producing high-quality reports and compelling presentations
  • Facilitating engaging workshops with manufacturers and retailers to activate insights
  • Developing your profile as a category and shopper insights specialist

About You
  
This opportunity suits an insights professional with 2–3+ years’ experience who’s ready to step into a client-facing role with real commercial impact.
  
You’ll bring:
  • Experience in FMCG, retail, or pharma (highly desirable)
  • Exposure to shopper or category research, or broader market research/data intelligence roles
  • Confidence working with survey data (essential)
  • Experience with POS, loyalty, or panel data (highly regarded)
  • Strong communication skills and natural relationship-building ability
  • Curiosity, commercial thinking, and a passion for FMCG trends and innovation
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to collaborate and contribute to team success
