Shopper & Category Insights Consultant - Major Retail Account
Job description
We're seeking a practical and commercially minded Insights Consultant to join a global insights and analytics business on a major retail account.
This organisation partners with leading brands and retailers to navigate the complexity of consumer behaviour, using advanced analytics, rich datasets, and deep industry expertise to drive smarter decisions and unlock growth.
The Role:
This is a client-facing position supporting a major retail account, working across relationship management, data analysis, and insight delivery. You'll handle a range of ad hoc briefs including range optimisation, product deletions, innovation, planograms, pricing, promotions, and shopper missions – everything needed to inform shopper and category strategy.
The successful candidate will play a central role in understanding client challenges, translating complex data into clear recommendations, and contributing to commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with a major retail client, including regular onsite collaboration
- Consult with stakeholders to define business problems
- Analyse and interpret PoS and panel data
- Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives
- Present insights regularly
- Grow your expertise in category, shopper, and loyalty strategy
- Degree in Business, Commerce, Statistics, or a related field
- Solid experience in consumer, category, or shopper insights (ideally FMCG or retail)
- Strong understanding of market, sales, and shopper data
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong commercial acumen
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders
- High attention to detail and strong planning skills
