Senior Business Development Manager - FMCG, Retail & Consumer

This is an autonomous, commercially focused role where you'll become the face of the business in Auckland, supported by a collaborative ANZ team and an experienced leadership group.

The Opportunity
You'll own new business growth across the New Zealand market, working with leading FMCG manufacturers and brand owners to understand their commercial challenges and connect them with innovative data, analytics and AI solutions.
This is a true end-to-end sales role encompassing prospecting, relationship building, solution selling, proposal development, negotiation, onboarding and ongoing commercial partnership.
You'll be engaging with senior commercial, category, marketing and insights stakeholders across some of the country's best-known consumer brands.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Developing new business opportunities across the New Zealand FMCG market
  • Building relationships through networking, referrals, inbound enquiries and proactive outreach
  • Leading discovery conversations to understand client objectives and challenges
  • Presenting tailored solutions spanning retail measurement, shopper insights, panel data, analytics and AI-enabled products
  • Creating compelling commercial proposals and managing negotiations
  • Guiding clients through onboarding and implementation
  • Representing the business at industry events and networking opportunities
  • Managing a healthy sales pipeline and delivering sustainable revenue growth
About You
You may currently be working in:
  • FMCG sales or commercial leadership
  • Area or regional management
  • Category management or trade marketing
  • Business development within research, data, analytics or technology
  • Client development within insights organisations, consultancies or data providers
You'll bring:
  • Strong knowledge of the New Zealand FMCG and retail landscape
  • Existing understanding of major retailers, manufacturers and brand owners
  • A proven ability to build relationships and generate commercial opportunities
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
  • Natural curiosity, commercial acumen and consultative selling skills
  • High energy, resilience and a proactive approach to winning business
  • A willingness to embrace emerging technologies and AI-driven solutions
